Liver Cleanse Day Four
Day 4 was the toughest so far, but by no means hard. If I would have done one thing differently it would be to definitely start on a Monday! The good Dr. recommends as such in his book and I would concur. It is not that temptation was higher, it is just that having 9 hours mapped out of your day before you start, assuming you work or study full-time, just makes things so much easier.
I weighed in at 79.6kgs (175lbs) a loss of 3.4kgs (7-8lbs) so far.
Normally I am a good sleeper, but this cleanse has had me dreaming more vividly, getting up in the night to go to the toilet (limited water after 7pm on last 2 days to avoid this) and generally sleeping quite lightly, which is quite a change. Despite this I still feel as though I have the energy to get up and do things. Felt a little grumpier than normal today, happy to blame the cleanse and broken sleep. Alas broken sleep is not an argument I can really use with my wife, who has just survived 2 years of broken sleep with our youngest daughter and coped admirably!
Having lots of fun juicing different recipes today and even managed to cook (but not personally eat) a risotto for the family. No hunger pangs, no cravings, absolutely amazed by this and delighted of course.
Is there a “worst thing” about the cleanse. For me the only unpleasant thing is the detox drops that come as part of the Dr Schultze 5-day Liver Detox pack. They really do taste quite disgusting! However it is a small price to pay for more energy and looking after an essential, and large, organ. My wife commented that cleaning the juicer constantly would be a bind for her, but I actually found it quite cathartic, maybe because it helped fill 30 minutes a day without thinking of food.
With a day to go I feel like that I could certainly juice more often and could even go 10-14 days on a pure juice fast. Watch this space.
