Put Aspartame in Milk, Says Dairy Industry

It seems like an unbelievable demand to make but the dairy industry has asked for aspartame to be put into milk.

chocolate milkAdding the dangerous artificial sweetener would make milk more palatable to children, they claim.

Dairy industry groups have now approached the Food and Drug Administration, according to  Courthouse News Service, a nationwide news service for lawyers and the news media.

Not only do the dairy industries want artificial sweeteners to be added to milk, they don’t want changes making to the labels, claiming that it is so consumers can “more easily identify its overall nutritional value”.

The following is from Courthouse News:

“The Food and Drug Administration is asking for data related to those sweeteners.

The International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) and the National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) filed a petition in 2009 requesting that the FDA amend its standard of identity for milk.

The petition asked the agency to allow the use of “any safe and suitable” sweetener for milk and asked to amend the standards of identity for 17 other milk and cream products.

Those products include sweetened condensed milk, whipping cream, yogurt and eggnog, which the groups say should be allowed to have “safe and suitable” sweeteners.

The groups request that the FDA “allow optional characterizing flavoring ingredients used in milk (e.g. chocolate flavoring added to milk) to be sweetened with any safe and suitable sweetener – including non-nutritive sweeteners such as aspartame.”

FDA regulations currently only allow milk products to contain “nutritive sweeteners” (those with calories) which the agency generally recognizes as safe.

The groups say the amendments “would promote more healthful eating practices and reduce childhood obesity by providing for lower-calorie flavored milk products.”

“They state that lower-calorie flavored milk would particularly benefit school children who, according to IDFA and NMPF, are more inclined to drink flavored milk than unflavored milk at school,” the FDA wrote in its notice.

The groups also say they would help with programs that aim to improve nutrition in school meals and argue that the proposed amendments would promote “honesty and fair dealing in the marketplace,” the FDA wrote.

The agency published a notice of the petition on Wednesday requesting comments, data, and information about the proposed amendment to the identity of milk products. The comments are due by May 21. ”

We’ll now be watching carefully the decision of the FDA,. NaturalCures members know our feelings on aspartame and the proven findings linking it to a number of dangerous health side-effects and illnesses such as brain tumors, cancer, migraines and seizures and weight gain.

Remember our blog post Need Another Reason to Avoid Aspartame when we gave you no fewer than 92 reasons to avoid this deadly substance? Because of this it seems incredible that the FDA could even be considering the request made by the dairy industries. Make sure you watch this space for developments.

Only a moron or an evil genius would make such a request. Which lobbies or groups within the dairy industry made such a request??

  26. Dan Sigala via Facebook  /  26 February, 2013, 1:13 am Reply

There is no good reason for them to do this. Just like fluoride in water, it is unnecessary and dangerous to our health.

Drinking cow’s milk is bad enough. Cow’s milk is designed to turn a baby calf into a big cow.

They have been trying to do this for years. Jerome Bressler, retired Compliance Officer with the FDA, told me and Lane Shore, Mission Possible Chicago, “They can’t do it, it’s illegal.” I told him FDA had been operating above the law for many years.

Hundreds of thousands of people have gotten off aspartame but many are chemically hypersensitive for life. If they accidently get aspartame they can go into anaphylactic shock, and have. Aspartame is not like sugar. Sugar is a food, aspartame is a chemical poison made up of aspartic acid, an excitotoxin, phenylalanine, a neurotoxin, and a methyl ester that becomes free methyl alcohol that converts to formaldehyde and formic acid and causes metabolic acidosis. The whole molecule breaks down to diketopiperazine, a brain tumor agent. Just recent studies have shown that aspartame can jump preterm births 78%, 3 Ramazzini studies prove aspartame is a multipotential carcinogen, and other studies show the link to diabetes, obesity, heart attack and strokes, and depression. It even has shown that aspartame destroys kidney function. A recent Harvard study shows the link to leukemia and lymphoma. See peer reviewed research: http://www.mpwhi.com/peer_reviewed_research.htm

This is an abomination. FDA in a deal with the original manufacturer sealed all aspartame birth defect studies. On their memos FDA admitted aspartame causes birth defects. Read the last chapter in Dr. Woodrow Monte’s book, “While Science Sleeps”
    http://www.whilesciencesleeps.com/While%20Science%20Sleeps%20-%20Chapter%2012%20(ref).pdf

Aspartame is a teratogen causing birth defects and mental retardation. http://rense.com/general/asp.htm Can you just imagine children drinking milk with an addictive, excitoneurotoxic, carcinogenic, genetically engineered drug and adjuvant. This is absolutely against the law, and the FDA knows it. See the Report for Schools: http://www.mpwhi.com/report_on_aspartame_and_children.htm What if pregnant women use milk unlabeled? Aspartame is genocide!

You should read this article. Apparently, this is an old hoax. If aspartame is ever added to flavored milk, it will be on the ingredient list. http://dairycarrie.com/2013/02/26/the-aspartame-in-milk-controversy/

Yep lets add this to milk to prevent obesity in our children, but give them higher risk of brain tumor. Thats smart thinking. Heres a thought….how about getting kids off the couch and no video games and sending them back outside to play and exercise.
